The last couple chapters changed it from 2 stars to 3. The MC was pretty insufferable and for a mathematician, not the brightest bulb in the box.

I received an advanced reader copy of Unfaithful from Bookouture via NetGalley, in return for my honest opinion.

Unfaithful by Natalie Barelli is a story about deceit, friendship and life blowing up in your face. Anna is a working woman striving to be the best mother/wife/mentor/coworker to walk the earth. Alex, Anna’s genius student, has died, she’s discovered her husband’s affair and Anna is having problems at work. While trying to protect herself and her family, Anna has made a series of poor decisions and feels like her life is unraveling. Anna is prepared to stop at nothing to defend her family and will be surprised to learn who she can trust and who she can’t.

This was an excellent, fast moving story with multiple surprises along the way. Unfaithful is available now.

wow, this was a ride!

first of all, I would like to say that if you enjoy stories about marriage complexities and how horrible cheating is, then read this.

tbh, I didn't really like the MC. she was
always shown to be indecisive, impulsive, and a liar. she has really bad communication skills but i think this has to do with her childhood trauma. nevertheless, there were many instances in the story where i went "gurl WHAT YOU DOIN'???" because. my god. she is a piece of work. idk how june likes her when MC has used her so many times.
but then, it occurred to me that maybe the author was doing this on purpose. to make MC seem like
an unrealiable narrator because she's a murderer. or so i thought.
but it just turns out that MC is
really just bad at communication and standing up for herself. give this woman therapy pls.

what I absolutely loved about this book was the twist! yes. I didn't see that coming at all despite honing my scrutiny skills after years of reading thrillers.
luis really is the definition of a gaslighting KING. mans was moving MAD. and he is also the definition of a disgusting man. idk how you can live cheating EVERYTHING.
but yes. I like that. that the stories revolve around these characters who are, frankly,
criminals in my eyes
. I like that we have a cast of truly despicable, obsessive, and actually human characters. because don't we all get jealous? or just that tad bit too into some new phase?

this story takes those questions to the extreme. and I'm happy to say that I read it!

A thriller about a marriage in trouble. Why do partners keep secrets from each other?

A great read that kept me wondering who the third person in the marriage was.

Some quotes I liked from the book, "Maybe that's what's wrong with me. I never break the rules. Maybe that's why I never get what I want."

"Thank you. But I want to tell her it's not just luck. It's hard work. That a family is like a fortress you have to defend all the time."

A fun book, I recommend you pick it up.

Holy cow! I was hooked on this book right from the start. The main character, Anna, is one heck of a character. She is so well developed, but her decision making will make you want to scream. The ending is a huge plot twist with a great closure.

Unfaithful by Natalie Barelli is a super fast-paced thriller about a woman who works as a mathematician and a professor, but she's never been particularly ambitious or adventurous; slipping into the mundane reality that so many people live in. After an unstable student of hers passes away before her eyes, her life begins to tailspin, and the narrative very quickly shifts to something shaky and unreliable, leaving you as the reader to make your own interpretations and read between the lines. It raises the questions of would you honor the code of honesty if no one was watching, and what would you do if you knew your partner was cheating?

I found this book to be intriguing, albeit more of the same in this particular genre of thrillers featuring unreliable female narrators. I got taken out of the element of the story quite a bit because it's clearly written by someone who isn't American—which is obviously fine; Americans write stories about people who aren't American all the time—but the ways of thinking, speaking, and day-to-day mundane happenings felt ~different~ in a way I can't elaborate on, but noticed every time.

This really is a fantastic novel for people who are new to this type of thriller and I am eager to read more from this author because the way she puts her chapters together is intriguing; but I found the ending of Unfaithful to be rushed and over-ambitious in an effort to wrap the story up in an interesting way.

I didn't know where the author was going with the story. There were many things happening, but everything came together in the end. I loved the author's writing style and sense of humor.
