Audio book. Well! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. There were many times when I thought I had it figured out but didn’t and I really enjoyed that. Anna, our protagonist is what you would consider to be your typical unreliable narrator at times throughout this book who would do anything to save her marriage and her career. I had many “damn” moments in this book and I’m glad I got closure on things I was expecting to be left unfinished. I look forward to reading more from this author.

“Wow!” is all I can say after finishing “Unfaithful,” by Natalie Barelli. This is the best psychological thriller I have ever read, and I read a lot in this genre. I rarely give a book 5 stars, but this one deserves more than 5 stars.

This book is a page-turner. I had to stop reading a few times and could barely stand to put the book down, and could not wait to pick it up again. There are so many twists and turns, it will make your head spin trying to keep up. Anna, the protagonist, gets into one mess after another. Just when it seems she has one issue solved, two more rear their ugly heads. A writing teacher once told me to put my character up a tree, throw rocks at them, and then get them down safely. Ms. Barelli threw a LOT of rocks at Anna while she was up in the tree. Great job of storytelling!

The book is told in the first person from Anna’s perspective. No spoilers here, but she is a consummate liar in order to save face and present a perfect picture of herself and her life to others. Anna’s character is well developed as one might imagine since the story is in the 1st person POV. Her husband’s character, Luis, less so. I would love to have known more about him.

The ending, which was most unexpected, was satisfying. As I neared the end of the book I was fearful the book would not end well, but it did.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough and cannot wait for Ms. Barelli to write another thriller.

3 stars teetering to 4!

One of my new favourite reads, me thinks.
I read this on KU but liked it so much I bought a physical copy! This is also one of the few books I've recently felt like I would/should re-read again. I specially liked how the opening conflict turned out in the end.

The main conflict evolves into something bigger than what you think it is when going in first but I didn't feel like it was OTT, no loose ends. I do feel like there were a lot of things happening at once so I feel like this book could have been either longer or have less twists.

One of the strongest points of Unfaithful is Girl power!!! The friendship between Anna and June was so cute and I was honestly hoping for a backstabbing moment twist (as it's classic in mysteries) but it didn't happen! I liked this change for once.
