if it’s written by george r r martin it’s bound to be sad right?

i just loved everything about this. adara is the cutest and her ice dragon has my heart.

This book was a quick, fun winter read---- it easily earned itself 4.25 stars. The prose was lovely and the story was charming. Dragons are always a win for me, and this book does not lack them! (The ice dragon in particular was pretty awesome.) The illustrations were gorgeous and added so much life to the tale. This is the only book of George R. R. Martin's I've ever read, and I was impressed. He has skill as a children's book author (though his writings are mostly adult fantasy).

Thanks to Jay from Captured in Words for his recommendation of this book on YouTube!

La pequeña novela es en realidad un cuento para niños, bastante interesante y no exclusivo para los peques. Aborda la historia de una niña y su dragón de hielo, además de la relación que tiene con su familia. Es disfrutable para todas las edades.

This is the first George R. R. Martin book I have read even though I own the GoT series (they are just so intimidating to begin!) and man I am really impressed. Don't let the fact that this is a children's book steer you away from reading this book. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is just as beautiful. It's not your average nonsensical children's book. It developed a great bond between Adara and the ice dragon that was magical to read. I wish I had read this when I was younger, as this type of story would have gotten me into reading at such an earlier age. With that said, I am just as grateful to have read it as an adult. It truly is for all ages. 5/5 stars!

A beautiful allegory of growing up and doing the right thing amidst sacrifice.

Pretty cool, hope we get that vibe in the winds of winter

Gorgeous illustrations. Appropriate for children, as long as they're ok with dragons fighting and people dying, etc.
