2.5* Ever since I read Make a Scene, I was excited to read more about this author, and this book was super promising. Road trip. Enemies to lovers. Forced proximity. 'Oh no, ThErE's OnLy OnE bEd'. Little sprinkles of fake relationship. But then all the fun ended way too early on (before 40%, to be exact). We didn't get to see much from the actual trip, only what was important to lead into them being stranded. The whole robbery conflict was solved too suddenly and made no sense. Then we got little to nothing about the rest of their journey to Nicole and Ty's place.
Then, when they went home, everything chanced and I started enjoying it even less. I couldn't connect with Jolene nor Jason. Their "chemistry" wasn't appealing to me, and their constant arguing took away my enjoyment. They found the most random little excuses to put space between each other, but then wouldn't reflect on it and actually TALK when they got back together. They did this little in-and-out dance so many times, it hit the point of ridiculous. I mean, the last note I wrote says "She gave him a fish and they worked it out. Again. Lol.", so do with that what you will.
I also wasn't expecting the final conflict with Mark to be so tasteless. Like sure, he was pushy and an asshole, but you'd think he'd want to seek revenge on the times Jolene bruised his ego in public and not......... THAT. (I'm a sucker for drama, so you bet I had my popcorn ready for the bomb to drop. Now imagine my heartbreak when it disappointed me)

A fun, quick read that, for the most part, I enjoyed. I have 2 things that I wasn’t a fan of and are the reasons I gave it 3 stares.
1. I love when enemies to lovers stories a are a slow burn but this happened a bit too quickly, along with the road trip, which was maybe 1/3 of the book
2. The intimate scenes made me cringe đź’€
Putting those 2 points aside, this book was enjoyable to read.

Minor: Death of parent
I thought this was going to be set like mostly on the road trip, but the trip was like less than 1/4 of the book? I also don’t know why they couldn’t tell anyone they liked each other. It felt a little too childish. I was excited for this one but left a little disappointed. still enjoyed it, but it’s not my favorite.

This one was not my favorite. I hated that she got fired and didn’t ask any questions and signed the liability form
