Okay so I went into this super open minded even though I’m usually a closed door romance girl and only really enjoy the spicy stuff when it’s Black characters, so you can imagine my shock at some of those scenes 😭😭😭

That said, I actually liked the book! I really enjoyed the main characters’ jobs and the fact that there was this unbreakable trust between the two of them. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the epilogue since it was a bit too graphic for me, and that knife scene (iykyk) was a lot. But overall it was a pretty solid read.

I think my favorite theme was the idea that just because you’re biologically related to someone doesn’t mean you’re anything like them. You can be your own person. Oh and it definitely took me a minute to adjust to the love interests being white, but once I got past that it was good!

Dark, intense, and full of twisted chemistry. This is a dark erotic romance with heavy themes and a morally gray male lead. The story includes a captive-to-lover arc with a serial killer love interest and a very graphic knife kink scene. There are also references to past sexual violence and family trauma.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Chef’s kiss, no notes, I'm obsessed! I always enjoy reading, otherwise, why would I do it, but this book was the most fun I've had reading in a while. I could tell within the first chapter this was going to be 5 🌟

Josh was an absolutely hysterical MMC, with his internal monologue, stalking habits and response to his “accident” with Brad. Aly was an equally likeable character, quick witted and cunning with both successful and failed attempts to stay one step ahead of her masked man. There were so many points in this book that had the opportunity to be predictable, but the author always took a different direction than I anticipated and kept the plot exciting from cover to cover.

I really enjoyed this audiobook because putting the dark stuff aside it was funny and entertaining. If I had to physically read it I might not like it as much

The pining was good but didn't last very long.  I appreciated the simping but the overall murderous/stalker vibes with marshmallow interior was extreme to the point of being comical (net negative).

When it turned into a smut fest of kinky proportions, any sense of plot was lost for the sake of boning, which is fine if that's what you're looking for.

The crumbs of found family were what kept me going.
