First, I started with the audiobook, and I almost quit reading it because the narrators did not feel well matched to the characters. I’m glad I switched to the digital edition because this was a great read! Continuing through Kristina’s story through the perspective of her three oldest children was a powerful way to show the ripple effects of addiction from one generation to the next. Again, I love the author’s poetic writing style. Reading about the similarities and differences between the three siblings and their mother is fascinating. I especially loved the excerpt from the real Kristina at the end of the book.

DNF. When i read them i thought the first two books in this series were phenomenal.

But in this one, the way she writes about "Hunter", as such a crude (and frankly sexual) character, when he is a fictional future she created of her grandson/son, makes me feel icky and I could not finish it with that perspective in mind.
