Although I already had some knowledge on the topics mentioned in this book, I did find myself learning some new things. I really loved the writing style and how accessible it was. Also the art throughout was amazing. Overall this was a fun, easy read.

This was a delight if a book. Oddly exactly what I needed to read almost as gallows humor in the middle of a pandemic.

Doughty addresses questions posed to her from children about what happens to bodies after people die. Each chapter is short and most have an illustration. As per usual, her tone is a bit jaunty, which some might find disrespectful towards the dead. However, I find that she makes the topic of death accessible for many people who would otherwise avoid the subject.

Some of the questions ask how bodies are handled on airplanes, whether or not hair and nails grow postmortem, whether pets can be buried with humans, whether decaying bodies affect ground water.

This is one of the books my collect students might select as part of a course I teach on death, dying and bereavement. I have also assigned her two earlier books. (Smoke Gets in Your Eyes / From Here to Eternity). The students find her writing engaging and informative. I think she does a good job educating people about the death industry.
