this book is, as i’ve found books written by caitlin doughty are, interesting, and i wanted to know more about all these facts. my problem here is the writing. because i can’t really tell if she’s genuinely targeting this book for children. the writing did nothing to encourage me to read this, and knowing that i could at least learn something was the only thing that pushed me to finish this. the writing was not the best, and a lot of parts really weren’t that funny. i feel like she was trying too hard? if it’s targeted solely for children, which i don’t think, maybe i would get the over the top, not-actually-funny writing.
