Fun, educational, and appropriately autumnal - what more can you ask for? Recommended for people who collect books, fun facts or both.

I had been trying to read up on death lately, but had struggled to stay focussed due to the bleakness of the subject. Not this time! Caitlin Doughty is a mortician, writer and death-positive advocate who is working to de-stigmatise death, and bring back more choice and humanity to Western funeral practices. She has brought her wealth of knowledge and great sense of humour to this very entertaining and informative read.

As the title suggests, this book answers a few curly questions about death, kind of like mythbusters. There's quite a bit of science involved. There's a reference list at the end. While the book is aimed at children, it has plenty to offer teens and adults, and can create some great discussion opportunities.

Read this, and also read Mary Roach's Stiff - two books about dead bodies that are also fantastic examples of science writing!

A mortician answers all kinds of kids' questions about death and dying. This was hilarious and informative. Highly recommend.

I don't know how a book about death was so funny and entertaining, but it was.

A well written and funny q+a novella about death.

This is probably my favorite book of hers. I loved feeling so held as I learned about scary and morbid realities that come with being a very alive human who will eventually be a very dead human.

What an absolutely delightful book. I couldn't put it down. It's a delightful mix of bizarre, hysterical, morbid, and informative. No one wants to die. However, if you're like me, the "unknown" of death is most of where the fear comes from. The author has a way of talking about this topic that makes it feel natural and good natured. There is a lot to learn from this book. It's all fascinating.

"Remember when I said that even after you die there are still fun things
happening inside your flesh case? Well, bacteria are the most important
guests at the party. Gut bacteria go wild, digesting you from the inside."

This is a very interesting nonfiction book that answers questions kids ask regarding what happens to the body after death, mummies' perfume, what dying in space really is like, and so forth.

Caitlin Doughty does not only talk about death and her experience as a mortician but she mixes humor, elements of general knowledge, movie references, history, literature and makes the whole reading experience both entertaining and educational. Honestly, it's a book I'd go to even when I'm feeling a bit blue. It might be TMI for some of you as might get grossed out while reading certain parts of it (and googling at the same time) but it's totally worth the read. The marvelous artwork by Dianné Ruz is WHOLESOME !!

Deep beneath...we're all skeletons.

This is an interesting book about an unconventional subject. I have never known there are that many regulations around how to deal with dead bodies.
