It is not nearly as charming or compelling as the first book. It is an interesting read for the curious. It is nothing groundbreaking as a book and doesn’t add anything new to the monster romances genre. Just a light read where the writing is fine. There are problems with monster romances and the obvious similarities it has to racial differences. This book and the series it seems side steps these conversations entirely except for offhand comments like about the male lead needing pants to “blend in” with humans which I found distasteful. Either address the implicit moral flaws and prejudices in your world building or don’t insert problematic things without addressing them.
