I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Anne Gracie and this story didn’t disappoint. It’s Damaris and Freddy’s story and I loved every interaction with these two- the banter, the peeling back the layers, the laughter, friendship and of course the whole falling in love thing. Both have pasts rhetoric want hidden and each help the other find their way despite objections.
This story made me laugh and cry. I was totally immersed and in a happy place the whole time. Love Aunt Beatrice - such a feisty older lady, whose fierce loyalty to her ‘nieces’ is commendable.
Looking forward to book 3!

Omg I loved the first book so much that I didn’t think this one could top it and I was so wrong!! Freddy’s humor was so fun and refreshing to Damaris’s serious and cautious nature. I loved the two of them together SO much. This was just beyond adorable.

Loved it! Damaris was a strong heroine and I loved her. I liked Freddy very much in the first book but I fell in love with him in this one.
Second read: it was meh. Still entertaining but not great.

I wasn't a the biggest fan of this book, the trope that they introduced a bit further into the book is one of my favorites and that bumped the book up for me. I just didn't enjoy the way their attraction to each other was introduced, it seemed like we were just thrown into the middle of it after they already noticed each other.
