♡ Cute Ending
♡ Queer Sports Romance
♡ Cheerleader x Quarterback (sapphic edition)

I really enjoyed this book.  I mean it’s a gay sports romance, of course I’m going to like it.  The characters were cute and the ending was absolutely adorable.  While yes, the characters decisions at some points get a little bit frustrating, I think it plays well with the YA vibe of the book.

There was a lot of talk about homophobia and dealing with people like that in a small town and not wanting to come out of the closet to the public in fear of losing friendships.  However, both main characters are out at home and one even having a bisexual mom, which was a cool addition.

Overall, it was a  quick read with a sapphic take on the cheerleader x quarterback trope.

Oh my goodness, this was beautiful. Definitely a rom-com but in a way that allowed for it to touch on some very important and raw subjects too that are often left out of young adult novels and I felt it also portrayed some queer narratives that I don’t often see in books or on the screen such as where youth are out to supportive parents and able to be themselves at home and around each other, but not at school/ in public.

the misogyny and sexism experienced by the characters are really bad. i feel so bad and disgusted even if it's fictional. the love story of the main characters are cute tho but also like it's very fast. i also feel like the ending didn't answer the questions that i have throughout the story. but if you want a happy ending 🤷‍♀️ then here you go.

I received an audiobook copy of Home Field Advantage by Dahlia Adler from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Overall, I found this book to be very easy to get into, which was partially due to the well written dual POVs of this novel.  Additionally,  although I don’t know anything about football I still found myself enthralled with the way it was being described in this sapphic spinoff of the trope of quarterback and cheerleader. On a final note, some of the deeper topics of the novel do require a trigger warning (teen pregnancy, death, homophobia, miscarriage and death among others).
