Another day, another Bergman Brothers book! As I have said before in a review for another book in this series, Chloe Liese does representation like no other romance author in the game. She inserts it so authentically and with such respect, that I can't help but love and respect her for it. I have never read a book with a character that has Ulcerative Colitis and this was so informative while also not making a big deal out of Rooney's condition. There was also the autism representation within Axel's characters. Chloe Liese has already proven that she can do autism representation well with Frankie and Ziggy's characters. What I love so much about it is that it isn't the same cut-and-dry autism representation. Each character is in various places on the spectrum and struggles with autism in different ways. It is some of the most authentic autism representation I have seen in romance and it was incredibly validating.
It would be easy to write Axel's character off as just a grump, but Chloe Liese makes sure that you understand why he is such a grump. He struggles with people and intimacy. Rooney is almost the perfect person to pair with him because she is able to push him outside his comfort zone while also respecting his boundaries. They might be one of the most evenly-matched couples in the series. I love viewing Rooney as the sunshine to Axel's storm cloud.
While I like the setting and characters, I think the relationship and conflict was kind of lacking. It felt like most resolutions were a cop-out which made it frustrating as a reader. Marriage of Convenience is a hard trope to do in contemporary romance because the reasoning and stakes have to be believable. I don't think I believed the reasonings.

ou all already know by now that I absolutely love The Bergman Brother series and this one is no exception. It is the perfect, cozy fall read! Throughout the other books, we see a glimpse of Rooney and Axel. Now the wait is finally over and we get to read their story! Not to mention, this story has well thought-out and respectful autism and chronic IBD representation!
This is the perfect marriage of convenience with a misunderstood grumpy lumberjack, Axel, and the ray of sunshine, Rooney. Like all of Liese’s other stories, this book has the perfect combinations of plot, character development, romance, and emotion. She really does make you feel all the feelings. She truly knows how to write a slow-burn with delicious tension!
With You Forever made me want to find a cozy A-frame in the PNW, and make breakfast lazily with Mr. Bookishinseattle.
