I am not sure how to even describe what I have read but it took me through many emotions and I am glad I read it. Hannah’s ability to share her life through trauma and discovery of living with ASD is well worth reading even to get a tiny glimpse of understanding and empathy.
I haven't read too many memoirs, so there is not much for me to compare Gadsby's autobiography with.
That said, I couldn't put it down. If you've seen Nanette, the book follows a familiar format, starts with some laughs before going in for the gut wrenching hard to read truth.

How satisfying to take a deep dive into the circumstances and creative process behind the gut-punch that was Nanette. The book is full of cleverness, laughs, and tons of heart—trauma, yes, but also stories of deep healing—and I learned quite a bit about autism and homophobia in Australia, to boot.

I finished reading Hannah Gadsby's memoir after having listened to half of it. I sorta kinda forgot how her show *Nanette* was the first time I became conscious of all the trauma that my body still remembers. This tension is also present in the book, of course, such a show didn't come out of nowhere. But it was quite an experience to be sort of taken on a ride through her life. I'm glad I finished the book but whew, it was a ride.
I switched to a book because my brain apparently wants to memorize details when it hears them.
