Definitely watch Gadsby perform Nanette (on Netflix) before you read this book if possible. Of course she reads the audio, and it has all the power and humor of her show. I loved spending five days with her talking in my earbuds as I went about my day. Learned a lot and laughed a lot.
Grateful to Hannah for writing this. I urge everyone, especially educators, to learn about and from Hannah's story.
This one is going to stick with me for a long time. I haven’t seen Nannette. I haven’t seen any of Hannah Gadsby’s comedy actually. But this memoir doesn’t need that to be powerful and beautiful and haunting and healing all at once.
Really really beautiful, funny, heartfelt. The audiobook has clips from the Netflix special!

This was an incredibly emotional and sometimes funny view of the events that lead to Hannah Gadsby's Nanette. From the very homophobic nature of their childhood all the way up through their comedy career, it was very interesting and heartbreaking to listen to. I also loved the evolution of their relationship with their mom.
Highly recommend if you're a fan of Hannah and/or Nanette!

It's hard to say I loved this as it is dealing with so much trauma.... but I can safely say I laughed a lot, I cried... it was amazing
