I got about halfway through and just couldn't keep going.

The writing style primarily made it almost unreadable and a slog to get through. For someone with ADHD, I can usually handle walls of text but not like this. There's no clear indication of who's talking or even if separate characters are talking. I've never been a fan of stream of consciousness and this takes it to another level.

Also, while I read from the reviews that this book had some dark themes, I was not prepared for what amounted to full on torture porn. I've seen and read enough post-apocalyptic media that I don't need the same tropes rehashed without any nuance.

Overall, it's an interesting concept, but the execution is uninspired.

Ironically, the author seems to have an issue with showing instead of telling.
