Read for Twihard nostalgia.

The first 3/4 of the book mainly consisted of Edward calling himself a monster that no one could ever love, which did make me want to slap his rock solid vampire face. The last quarter picked up with the introduction of James and the hunt, and I fell back into the passion I felt reading these books as a tween.

Bella comes off spectacularly, Edward needs to go to therapy.

When I read Twilight, I thought I was a heterosexual girl who wanted to live in a gothic mansion with her best friends and ride around on motorcycles a la the Underworld franchise and who wore a shitty t-shirt from DEB that read "Got Blood?" and who definitely, definitely was Team Edward. Now I'm a lesbian historian just trying to have a silly little time and who honestly likes long haired Jacob most because that's the closest we get to butch identity and anyways, let me tell you -- this was a silly little time. Not so little, really, because Edward will be running in mental circles of anguish 24/7. Eddy, buddy-- why your brain do so much and yet so little? You're just a guy. Just the most absolutely emo-coded man the world has ever known. Absolutely just a mess in that brain of yours-- which makes sense, because he is trapped at 17 forever (thanks Metro Station). I loved the first 3/4s because it was just a bonkers ride of Edward being the weeniest weenie in the world and Bella being the most regular degular girl (which is fine and good!!! girls will be regular and they deserve love!!!) to ever brave the Pacific Northwest & men with wild communication styles.

Easily the best part was Edward meticulously picking out his outfit for the Meadow Scene and knowing Bella absolutely wrecked her room debating her own ensemble and took the time to blow dry her Ultra Thick hair and knowing she is absolutely Big Clumsy and not at all coordinated and then taking her to some woods and being like, it's a short hike just five miles we won't even take the trail and not understanding that that is a BONKERS ask of this uncoordinated weenie woman who just got all snazzy for his big glittering reveal, and him like not even thinking to pack like .... water for her?? Or warning her to wear appropriate hiking footwear in this land that is definitely gonna be muddy because of all the, you know, rain?? And also, we all know he would lose his shit with how winded the hike would likely make her. And yet, he is shocked and assumes that she regrets joining him because of what terrible big bad thing he is, and not the fact that he was just thoughtless and condemned her to my own personal horror: impromptu hiking without water or appropriate shoe wear or even just like, a heads up. That's honestly Edward's biggest red flag: he thinks that taking this girl for a casual trailless 5 mile hike without warning is just like........ fine. Sure. That's nightmare fuel, babey.

Esse livro me fez odiar o Edward e eu acho que a Bella estaria melhor sozinha ou morta.

Cara chato.

To say that I regret reading this book would be the understatement of the entire century that Edward has been alive. I decided to reread this series after binge watching the movies with my boyfriend - certain that they couldn't be as terrible as I remembered. I was wrong.

Problem #1: The length. Why was this 600 pages? I did not need every single scene that shows up in Twilight to show up totally replicated, basically word for word, from Edwards perspective. There was no need. It could've been like. . . 300 pages???

Problem #2: This entire book is dedicated to Edward pining for Bella, Edward being obsessed with Bella, and Edward telling Bella that he is bad for her but going for her anyways. He literally sneaks into her room while she's sleeping and justifies it to himself by saying that he breaks other human laws all the time. "What were human rules to me, after all? How many did I ignore in a daily basis?" He's a peeping Tom, no matter how much Stephanie Meyer tries to convince us that he definitely absolutely 100% is not. Like just stop having a crush on her pls. I know plenty of 17 year old boys who spontaneously lose feelings - I'm sure Edward could manage it too.

Problem #3: Bella's lack of brains. How many times can you ignore warnings and red flags and somebody literally TELLING YOU TO YOUR FACE that they are dangerous for you??? How many women/girls see this as the standard for love and end up staying with an abusive partner because this series is so romanticized? Girl needs to run. She has no sense of self preservation.

Problem #4: Bella's brown eyes. If I had to read about Edward describing Bella's eyes one more time, I would've lost it. I get it, brown eyes are pretty. But there are so many other things that Edward could've been describing!!!

Problem #5: The Hades-Persephone thing. Every time Bella and Edward do something together, Edward guilt trips himself and thinks of himself as this terrible and vicious monster and tells us about a million times that he's feeding Bella (the goddess of spring, sugar, spice, and everything nice) evil pomegranate seeds that are just making sure he's more ingrained in her life. But then he doesn't stop, so it really doesn't even matter.

Anyways, I literally lost braincells reading this book. Please excuse me while I go throw it off a cliff.

This book has a great premise but went on for far too long. Whole chapters devoted to filler basically was just a bit too much, but it was great to see twilight from Edward (and technically many others) perspective

Don’t know if it’s cause I already knew the plot, but this was a really hard & slow read. I love Twilight more than the average person, but Edward’s thoughts were more creepy than I realized. Still glad I read it though

Somehow even more cheesy and ridiculous from Edward’s viewpoint and also finally made me realize how annoying Bella truly is. BUT for nostalgia reasons and the fact that it actually filled in a lot of blanks/reasoning from the original series (unless I just forgot about things over time) I’m giving this a 4 because I’m a stan.
