If nostalgia was a book told from a creepy point of view. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and seeing scenes I know really well from Edwards perspective. But this book had no right being as long as it was! It was good (read fun to read) but not good enough to be big enough to kill a man. I don't think I would have been able to get through it if I was reading it physically. But cause I was listening to it for multiple weeks I enjoyed it. I defo wanna rewatch Twilight now!

Did spending 756 pages inside Edward Cullen’s head affirm that 13 year old me was absolutely correct in being team Jacob? Yes. However it was good to get more of the Cullen lore, always the most interesting bit, always locked in the background.
Also I haven’t read a Twilight book in almost two decades so much of the plot details were new to me again, however reading this directly after Twilight would be such a repetitive slog. I feel like I got the ideal reader experience

I don't even know what to rate this...it's awful, but I expected it to be, so giving it a bad star rating doesn't seem fair.

A few key things:

- Edward is practically a school shooter in the making. One of the best parts of reading this was me and my friend giving him new names based off well-known killers. My current favorites are John Fangs Gacy and Ed Kazinsky.

- The writing in this is unnecessarily ornate. I love a good decorative sentence, but it takes skill to pull off, and as we all know, Stephenie Meyer does not have that skill.

- I laughed my ass off when Edward begged Bella to let him "do things my way for once," when the entire book was spent doing things Edward's way.

- The conversation between Bella and Edward about their favorite Linkin Park songs is the funniest thing I've ever read.

I’m not sure when I’ll learn that if it’s taking me weeks to read I just don’t like it. This was painful and did not need to be written. I did a re-read and re-watch of the series in 2024 and had such a good time with them. This book was SO duplicative of Twilight and Edward’s POV was obnoxious. It made me dislike him even more than I did.
