The story is just a bummer, as the book itself says. I found the fox's spelling to be distracting rather than adding to the story.

A bittersweet short story that manages to say a lot more about humanity than we would often like to admit.

The premise reminds me of Watership Down, albeit much shorter, more fable-like. The linguistics of a talking fox who learns English from listening to "yumans" transform a pretty straightforward moralism on environmentalism and kindness into fun.

A fox learns human and experiences our society of marvel and also of cruelty. This is told through the perspective of the fox and is a quick read that was really enjoyable and heartbreaking. ~Ashley

An excellent fable, tenderly told.
