I think this was just what I needed to read right now. If you’d told me I’d like it more than the two acclaimed literary fiction books I read it alongside I wouldn’t have believed you. But it was funny, somewhat charming, progressive on the few occasions when it got political. As another friend said, “it’s exactly what you’d expect and somehow that’s comforting.”

So this had the expected (various anecdotes from really bad trips where he overestimated dosage), the unexpected but unsurprising (stories of Jewish camp and peeing in a Snapple bottle in front of Tom Cruise’s house), and the pleasantly surprising (how much Seth Rogen loves his family/childhood friends/wife??? And also how he actually talked about his political beliefs?)

All I really have to say about this book is that it is one of my favourite audiobooks of all time (second only to Daisy Jones & The Six). The cast is wonderful (special shoutout to whoever plays young Seth Rogen!) and Rogen’s skills as a storyteller certainly come through (his inflections and emphasis actually add so much texture to the story). Considering he’s a famous rich white middle-aged Jewish dude who smokes a lot of weed—whose filmography rarely overlaps with my preferred genres of cinema—I was shocked by how much I (someone who shares none of these aforementioned identity markers) enjoyed his narration and the stories he had to share. If you’re needing a break from the likes of A Little Life, this is a great book if you ever want to laugh out loud.

Audiobook:  Oh Seth Rogen. I had heard so many things about the audio of this and that it was excellent.
I did enjoy it and his stories and just the production was nothing like I've heard before from an audiobook.

What stood apart from other audiobooks particularly memoir type books is that there were different voices for the people involved and sometimes voiced by the person themselves. Good ol' Google told me that there were 80 narrators involved in this audiobook which is INSANE but honestly it helped bring the stories to life along with the sound effects.

Seth told stories about growing up in Canada, different encounters throughout his Hollywood career and of course times he was on drug trips. It was one of those things where you just shook your head as you were listening thinking "my gosh how does this happen".

If you are looking for a laugh & quick listen, this book is for you!

**I will not be rating memoirs as this is someone's life story**

I was sure this was going to be a 5-star read, but the second half was mostly stories about famous people and Hollywood and I didn’t find it as funny as Seth’s personal anecdotes from his childhood. I still really loved it though, and definitely one of the funniest books I’ve read. He’s not a perfect dude but I think he’s a good guy, and I’m glad I picked this up.

Discusses his experiences with racism and antisemitism, as a Jewish man through out the book. Explicit mentioning of different drugs and drug use. Some NSFW content (there's a chapter about when he discovered porn as a teenager, and while it's not super graphic for Seth Rogen, still not safe to listen to around children or at work). Overall he sounded very self-aware and much more intelligent than the roles he plays in movies reflect him to be. I would highly recommend the audiobook, he has a good narrator's voice and I believe he had celebrities voice their lines in most of the stories he told about them that involved dialouge. I didn't find this to contain any sexist/racist/ otherwise problematic offensive content, which is always a good suprise coming from a comedians memoir.
