This book was a wild ride, and the ending isn't sitting well with me. That is mainly because of how Tyler was treated. It felt unnecessary for that to happen to him and honestly made me feel really bummed out when I finished the book. I would have given five stars if it wasn't for that. I am still giving four stars however because the story had me hooked and once the story started unfolding I couldn't stop reading it.

Is this a 4.5 or a 5? I don't entirely know the answer to that but I will be listening to Cassiel for all my horror recommendations now because DANG

Holy... What in the hell did I just read?! It was horrifically glorious!!! It was a wonderful rotting dark fairy tale that just kept twisting. In the fairy tale was so much hidden wisdom, about self discovery, being yourself, and most importantly LOVING yourself. Sometimes beauty is just a facade, and underneath that facade is a rotting monster.

The pacing felt really slow, with a lack of balance between dialogue (either none for pages and pages or monologues) and very detailed descriptions. The characters that felt cliche and hard to root for. I felt like both the narrator withholding  information and the details so heavily eluding to information made it so that nothing felt surprising.

I would instead like to recommend Wilder Girls, which had more intrigue, cooler body horror, and more elements of queerness.
