I don't know how to start with this while all I can think about is my chiledhood memories and all the happines I had while watching the animation.
the book is just beyond beautiful and how do we grow up and what we need to know about the world and how our view of it may change each time we do something new and that everything we experience leave a a mark inside us somehow that shows in everyting we do or say.
the way the writer showed how an orphan might get through if she had no help to get to know the world like at the start when jodi knew nothing about what the oters are talking about as she lived in only one space not knowing about anything outside.
and how the letters has heped her to really understand herself the journey she went through has made us all grow up in one way not only hers as she really experienced and saw most of societies in the world and how did here pereference were build on.
and somehow she taught us also how to really look after ourself not just depend on any one and stand by our thoughts, but it also showed how much it is important for us to really have someone by our side that we know for sure will be there for us also to have good friend will make things easier but also making friends is also hard.
so I really don't know what to say about Jodi more as she grow up to be a perfect girl in a way that let us feel we can do more.
and Jeffery sir the one who made this possible he saw something in her that made him really do this , the way he did this from behind the curtains has really helped her if he told her who is he, she might have let things go in a different way she would make excuses talk to him in a different way that made her more serious about what she was doing.
Jeffery sir he is really warm kind and he has every and each good treat.
the ending really made me happy as everything went really well in a way i didn't expect.
perfect book to read.

Sadly I was able to guess exactly what was going to happen from the start because a few years ago I read a book that must have been based on this one. Still I absolutely loved Judy's letters and her way of communicating. She would make an awesome friend. I miss letter writing.

I think this is the third time I have read this novel. There have been decades between readings, but I have enjoyed it every time. Somehow, Webster has captured the spirit of an actual orphan discovering the world, friendship and love. She has written this book so well that it seems fresh with every reading.
I will be honest, I wasn't planning to reread this story. However, I recently rediscovered Project Gutenberg and so I was trying to come up with book titles that would be part of that catalog. This title popped into my brain after The Girl of the Limberlost. Since I thought of it and had enjoyed this novel, I figured it would be a good read for the gym.
Webster creates Jerusha's story and tells it through letters in a very enjoyable manner. This may be the book that first introduced me to epistolary writing years ago. Jerusha might be an average orphan from the early part of last century. However, I doubt it. She is able to poke fun at herself, to write entertaining letters and learn from the opportunities she is given. I think she is an unusual young woman and that is why her story is so much fun.
If you miss the art of letter-writing and want to turn back the hands of time, I recommend you find this novel. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Project Gutenberg version that I read. It was missing the very funny drawings from the original book. If I hadn't known those drawings existed, the book would have been confusing. Aside from that, I am so glad I got to meet Jerusha Abbott one more time.

I'm so torn about this one. It's humorous and charming in many ways and I love the heroine, orphan Jerusha "Judy" Abbott. Her letters to the anonymous sponsor who's paying for her college education are funny and lots of fun to read.
However,
This book was published in 1912 and in many ways it feels surprisingly modern, given Judy's spirited, sassy writing and view of the world. The romance angle is very much of its time, however, and bothered me enough that I can't give it more than 3 stars.
However,
Spoiler
I can't help feeling skeeved out by the fact that this sponsor - who she assumes is a kindly old man - is actually the thirtysomething uncle to her roommate, who befriends her in real life and gradually romances and proposes to her, all without her knowing he's the man to whom she's writing heartfelt letters. As her guardian "John Smith" he won't let her spend as much time as she wants with other, age-appropriate boys, while as her friend's Uncle Jervis he's always showing up to spend time with her himself. It's kind of creepy, like he's grooming her all along. Given how alone she is in the world it feels predatory, even though we're meant to think that he's a kind and generous man. This book was published in 1912 and in many ways it feels surprisingly modern, given Judy's spirited, sassy writing and view of the world.
