What can I truly say about this book it was kinda like a dumpster fire and the author kept trying to pour water over it to douse the fire out but then sometimes she’d get confused and throw gasoline over it instead.
Madison was dumber than a sock of rocks and more flip floppy than a fish out of water. She kept going back on her own word and used the dumbest arguments to make her decisions seem bright. Honestly sad that she was this stupid.
Then there was bishop, that guy needs to learn how to speak. If you know you’re constantly putting someone else’s life in danger it’s better to cough up your secrets and not let the other person just guess what’s wrong the entire time. He acted like a child for more than half and the other half he just pussy footed around any hard hitting convos. I’ve seen more spine in an invertebrate than on him

Not gonna lie, if I didn't discover Penelope Douglas's Devil's Night series already, I would like this much more. Its dark, mysterious and sexy. Personally I have hard time with the high school setting and the very young age of the cast (thinking back about how my 17/18 were lol). It just makes the story seem one step less believable for me. But all and all, this is my jam. Very decent dark romance.
I have no idea what the fuck happened in this book. I’m still irritated regarding the “plot twist” at the end and no one in the book wants to explain anything
What is this? I refuse to believe I got the same copy as people give 5 star reviews. It’s a credit to the author’s story telling skills that I even finished this. I can only describe it as... unfinished? If there had been better editing, more work and time put into this it could have been a good book. As is, it’s horrible. Like, this is a first draft that accidentally got published, horrible.
I was sold on the beautiful cover and the book description but the story never delivers. The spelling and grammar are iffy, a few mistakes but nothing massive. But the plot. It doesn’t make any sense! Ever. I kept reading mostly to see if it might pull together in the end, but no. The story ends on a cliffhanger and I don’t have the patience to carry on with the series. What else? The main character is not consistent at all. She continuously makes stupid, hair-brained choices no one would ever make. The two mean girls at the school are never introduced. They’re just there in chapter 5 like the author forgot to add in a scene. I even did a search on my kindle in case I’d just skimmed over something. Nope. There are so many story problems I don’t have time to get into them. Let’s just say this was a disaster.

I enjoyed this book, the story line feels similar to Twilight where Bella has heard a story about the tribe and eventually puts a few pieces of the story together.
I did think Madi was too trusting at times and her attraction to Bishop didn't seem to warrant what she was willing to look over. Same with Nathan, her step brother. This to me felt unrealistic as a woman in this day and age, but considering Madi is a high school teenager, maybe this friends/enemy situation was justifiable.
I read this in just over a day and have already downloaded the next book. I'm looking forward to seeing how the base of the story plays out as it's peaked my curiosity enough to commit to the next book.
