Bianca Rossi, determined to save her sister from an arranged marriage to a monster, comes up with a plan to throw away her virtue to save her sister's. Unbeknownst to her, saving her sister means offering her own soul up to a devil, Vincent Ferrari, mafia enforcer and newly appointed consigliere. An arranged marriage that starts out steeped in lies on Bianca's part and withheld information on Vincent's may not be built to last, but in the mafia world, Bianca better hope she can find a way to make her husband love her.

This is a straightforward mafia romance. Nothing drastic or new is done here. That's not bad! The mafia formula works, and I'm not mad about it. However, besides the typical misogyny and women are only valued for their virginity nonsense, I actually liked that these authors didn't make Vincent a man-whore whose with a different woman every night. He's OBSESSED with his wife and I truly enjoyed that.

I enjoyed this one, but I didn't love it for a few reasons!

First of all, I'm always so icked out when the heroine is 18 in and age gap romance with a 30 year old man. Like, can we not age her up a little bit? a 23-25 year old heroine and a 35 year old hero would not have changed one bit of this story. There was no reason plot wise or character growth wise as to why she had to be freshly 18. It just gives me super weird vibes. I was actually able to overlook it for the most part. However, there were certain times where I had to rewrite her in my head as a few years older.

Secondly, the main conflict for the first 50% is that Bianca is "lying" to the hero about what really happened when she approached her sister's betrothed. BUT then it gets resolved and an entirely new conflict takes place with a former friend of Bianca's maybe sorta stalking her. That's fine. Except, the former friend's reason for her actions was literally out of left field and she didn't event target Bianca. She targeted someone else (that I won't give entirely away because it's too spoilery). I was so confused when it came to wrap up the conflict too. Who were these people that saved the day? Why is this entirely different character the focus of the conflict now? It felt like the first half was Bianca and Vincent and the later half was setting up for book two and its main couple.

There's also....alot of sex. Which is fine! It was well written and super hot (if you like degradation kink, this will be your jam.) But there were times where instead of them sleeping together, I was BEGGING them to just have a conversation with each other.

All in all, I did like this one, and I'm interested enough to read the second one. But can we please make the heroine of book 2 a little bit older? Cause my girl is 17 in this one and I just don't see the reason for it.

I was so excited to read this book but the age gap and just the man put me off. Because why in the 20th century are we still promoting relationships where the woman is freshly 18 and the man is 30? You’re just disguising grooming as ‘dating an older man’ or in her case marrying one. The book from what I read was filled with misogyny and I know that’s often present in mafia books but there is always some sort of indication that will change however I just didn’t feel it in this case. I’m truly disappointed.

Meh

It was an OK story, the way the characters talked kind of threw the story off. People don’t speak like that it comes of corny and contrite. And just like one reader pointed out the age difference is gross. Once the marriage blossomed into a relationship ( surprise, suprise
