I did really enjoy this one. It had a great plot line, characters, and steam.

I think what it was lacking for me was the emotional connection being built between Bianca and Vincent. It was very insta-love, and I would have really loved to see them fall for each other or see them build their love. The steam aspect was good but the heroine, for a virgin, sure seemed very experienced.

I’ll definitely be reading the next one.

Overall a fun read. Some negatives: 1) bad grammar throughout and 2) there is genuinely no reason Bianca (and Gabbi) need to be this young. Even just a couple years older, putting them at 20, would be so much better.

i buddy-read this with a booktwt moot.

Review:

Zero chemistry.

Too many characters/character introductions.

An unrationally jealous FMC... ew.

I don't even enjoy RATIONAL jealous from fmcs... let alone whatever this was.

An mmc obsessed with how "untouched" her ass is... weird...

Actually, this whole book is obsessed with female virginity...

Lmao there's a scene in here where a 17 year old character was scolded for watching porn, cause she's too young for that... and in the SAME scene, she is told she'll be marrying some mafia dude in his 30s...

Virtuous Lies is the first book in the Lies of the Underworld series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Bianca does everything right in her family. But she’ll also do anything to protect her younger sister, which leads to her lying and being forced to marry Vincent.

Vincent is. Whew. Filthy. Some of the things he did…

Why are authors obsessed with pairing newly adult girls with thirty-year-old men? The fact that he's wanted her since she was 16 is fucking disgusting

I read this because Booktok told me there was a scene where Bianca gets so jealous of other women that Vinnie goes out and gets a tattoo of her name on his neck, and when that's not enough, she carves her initial in his chest. I mean it did happen so I wasn’t lied to but it also happened randomly in the middle of the book over maybe 3 pages, had no lasting impact on the story as a whole, and was just as forgettable as the rest of the book.
