❤️Fake dating
❤️Holiday romance
❤️Queer Pride & Prejudice retelling
❤️Sapphic romance
❤️Grumpy x sunshine
❤️Family dynamics

Apart from the numerous HP jumpscares (this book was written in 2020 so I forgive this a little but still come on?? Even in 2020 we knew JKR was a pretty terrible person) it was a near perfect rom com read! It was wholesome and sweet and the tension was *chef’s kiss*

Elle was a wonderful character and all of the friendships were lovely however I wasn’t a huge fan of Darcy. I actually really love a prickly FMC but Darcy leaned towards a little too boring as opposed to prickly at times and I think that made it hard for me to connect with or really feel for her as much as I would have liked. It was however a fantastic, warm and fuzzy holiday rom com.

I would recommend it if you like a very grumpy x sunshine romance, prickly FMCs and top tier fake dating.

Cute, but Elle felt a little too manic pixie for me.

Also, why in the world would someone lick the roof of another person's mouth while kissing? Am I missing something? The author mentioned it in two separate scenes and acted like it was the biggest turn on?!?!

So so cute! I love Darcy and I love Elle. I read Count Your Lucky Stars before this book so it was really fun to learn more about the context of their relationship in a kind of backwards way. Also I really liked reading about Elle’s family and how she copes with their style of disapproval. It reminded me of my relationship with my grandparents and it was just nice to see her begin to set boundaries and explore how that kind of dynamic affects her self esteem as an adult.

Generally not a romance reader, but this book was lovely and enjoyable! It did lag at times but overall such a good mix of scenes that kept me hooked in reading. Elle and Darby were such lovely characters and they were more fleshed out than typical “opposites attract” stock characters. Lovely read!
