This was my second read by the author and by far the best written romance, I’ve read to date. The true-to-like dialogue and narrative insight were a breath of fresh air throughout the story, and the detailed character idiosyncrasies brought it fully to life.
I did have a couple of gripes on plot - when, if ever, did Darcy ever study for the big exam?? And the non-consequential reveal to Brendon from a business aspect, while relieving, felt a little confusing - they could have been honest from the get-go? But in writing my critics here to the plot, I realized that a romantic take on them could “excuse” them, so letting them go!
Spicy scenes get full marks: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Not sure I will read the spin-off with Brendon, but definitely looking forward to other stories with this level of writing from the author.

This is cute. I don't think the fake dating trope romances are for me but I was much more on board as the book progressed. And while I liked both Darcy and Elle, it was a bit too unbelievable that such polar opposites could work. Also, I knew what I was getting into before I picked it up... but all the astrology talk made my eyes roll.

WHYYYY. WHY. okay. i liked this book so so much more than i expected, the romance is actually SO cute and the clichés didn't even feel forced and even the whole star and universe talk didn't feel corny. apart from a couple questionable pop culture references (i know cringe culture is dead but uhhh even one unicorn or harry potter mention is one too many these days). anyway, everything was so good until like....... the last three chapters???
/light spoilers/ i ?? despised how everyone at the end seemed to think elle was in the right for DEMANDING that darcy declare her love for her ??? and DARCY had to be the one who went said sorry when she had done nothing wrong at all? man that was frustrating as fuck.
anyway, i liked darcy so much that i'm still giving it 4 stars.

I’ve read this book three times in the last year and I’m not usually one to reread books. It’s a reliable plot with good characters and a well-timed romance. It’s a great palate cleanser for after other books with poor pacing. I wish I could read even more about these characters! (I’ve read book 3, it’s still not enough)

I felt the book was a bit uneven. Parts I loved and had that cozy rom-com feel, and others just fell flat. There was a lot of telling me there was a spark/chemistry/tension between the main characters but I could never really feel it. Comparable to watching two actors kiss onscreen with zero chemistry with each other.
