2.5 stars. This was a generally cute opposites-attract story. I adored Elle (a bohemian astronomist), but Darcy came off as stuck-up snob ice queen (an actuary whose entire personality is thinking boxed wine is inferior and who orders $56 GLASSES of wine on a first date). I'm with Elle on that one: WTF!! Overall, I think the author pushed it a little to the extreme in terms of opposites-attract as I felt the characters came off as more stereotypically opposite than organically opposite. While Elle had some issues to work out (feelings of inadequacy), Darcy obviously needed to be in therapy to take on her issues surrounding the end of her engagement from 2 1/2 years before. Bottom line: both of them needed to GO TO THERAPY. Overall, I feel that Elle had more character development and I enjoyed seeing her gain confidence in herself as the story progressed. However, I would have liked to see more of a denouement with less of a transparently engineered conflict generator at the end. Also, the ending was beyond abrupt (for all the talk of Darcy's exam, it would have been nice to know if she passed it, for example). This was my first sapphic romance, and it's awesome that it was written by an own-voices LGBTQ+ author. Wish it was a stronger story on the whole, but it kept my attention enough to not DNF it.

Truly middle of the pack, but it was nice to have queer women as the love story.

Very cute but the plot and writing were too cliche and simple for me. Loved the sapphic representation and astrology references though!

struggled to get into it at first but powered through for book club. ended up enjoying it more than i thought i would. the spice is well written but i just didn't buy the relationship as a whole...it felt more like infatuation rather than love. also, Darcy is supposed to be an "ice queen" but past relationship trauma does not an ice queen make lol she was hesitant/scared, sure, but ice queen?? that's a stretch...but i may be projecting again😂 Margot takes the crown for best friend/roommate Elle could have. and Brendon was annoying af at the beginning, he's literally the reason i almost stopped reading. anyway, it was still cute and the astrology aspect was interesting if you're into that✨
