This book was fucking delightful. The extremely thinly veiled mocking of bigotry of all kinds warms my heart. The characters were perfectly imperfect and the relationships are beyond beautiful. Thank you TJ Klune for another book I’ll treasure for all my days. They may be loud, but we’re louder.

An adorable read that tells the story of a magical family facing off against systemic racism. I love this family. I love this family and this town with my whole heart. I love how sassy and unique they all are.
But there are scenes where I had to put the book down and take a quick breather because it also deals with a lot of trauma, but it does so as authentically as possible.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first. I loved the children just the same, though.   Chauncey is my favorite. For some reason, the narrator didn't work for me.  Everything he said sounded too ominous and dramatized.

I didn't understand why they let the investigator stay if they were just going to kick her out.
