A little to slow to start but when it got going wow did it get good. The last third in particular is beautifully written and I struggled to put it down. I loved the turns this book took and hearing from the three different women’s perspectives and piecing their parts of the story together
Moderate: Grief

WOW. Wow. Wow.
I cried in the park reading the last quarter of this book.
I didn’t clock any twist until it was staring me in the face (a perfect perfect timing - getting the twist just before it’s made explicit in text, chefs kiss), the characters were all so good and rounded, just. WOW!!!

It was okay. I knew the bulk of the ending going in but it didn’t change my thoughts on the story.
Three women with different storyline’s and someone familiar thread throughout. It was interesting to get invested in the three lives/relationships but individually I wasn’t. super keen on any of them.

Joseph Carter is the worst character. As soon as the book starts off, you hate him. He's designed that way. After all, he is stringing three women along, isn't he?
You'd be wrong. And that's how this easy beach read hooks you in, it makes you think he is the worst character of all, but actually it's a very clever way of weaving in grief, mental health, issues with men talking to their friends, and trying to always appear fine when dating. It's a great lesson in bringing down walls, and that actually, dating someone you like or fancy doesn't always mean they are right for you just like we see with Miranda and the friendship that forms beyond their dating. Jane was a wonderful character I thought, the only negatives for me were that the story between her and Richard wasn't explored very much and the link between her & Richard and Siobhan & Richard was quite weak.
I took this read on holiday and it took me 24 hours to finish.
Beth O'Leary has a lovely way of writing and I love reading her books when I'm away, they help me to switch off entirely

Once the pieces came together the book was absolutely worth it.
