I don't understand why so many people rave about Anne Tyler? There was nothing amazing about this.
I'm glad this was a quick read because I couldn't have stuck with it for much longer. The whole thing just felt pointless and I didn't like any of the characters. 10 Things I Hate About You is definitely a far better modern retelling of The Taming of the Shrew.

I hated everything that happened in the first thirty pages, so I did not finish it.

I did enjoy the book but the ending was too abrupt. It could have done with a bit more time spent on Kate's developing feelings for Pyotr. I really liked Kate & Pyotr but another 50 pages wouldn't have hurt.

3.5 stars. I usually love the fish out of water character. I enjoyed the book, I laughed a couple of times. But, despite this being a short book, it did seem to drag.
