Let it henceforth be known that Magnus Bane is perfect in every way, and that I adore him with all my soul... I could absolutely go on a mushy gushy rant about how he's one of my fave Shadowhunter characters, alont with Charlotte and Jem and Simon, but I think once I start writing about them, we'll be here for a looong time lol. I could also rant equally for my hatred of Jace but... I don't want to do that, for my own sanity. Let's just say that Cassie Clare and I have a... complicated relationship. The characters
Some Stories were good , hilarious , intriguing & like classical Cassandra Clare .
However others I couldn’t be bothered with !

For Tuesday of Booktubeathon, I read The Bane Chronicles. It took nearly all the time I had yesterday, but I read it. As expected, Cassie graced us with some hilarious stories about the one and only glittery bisexual warlock, Magnus Bane. I don't really need to say much except thE MALEC IS REAL AND ITS GREAT

I’ve never been a huge fan of The Moral Instruments, but I did read both the first four books of the series and all three books of the Clockwork series. One of the main reasons that I kept reading was Magnus Bane. I loved the way Clare wrote him and I’ve always had a soft spot for eccentric magic-users. To me, this meant that I was the perfect audience for this book. Someone who didn’t care about the other series and just wanted to read about Magnus.
I was wrong.
This short-story collection has a few gems, but there are a lot of stories in this that are more about setting up other books or using Magnus’ immortality to further develop the family stories of the shadow hunter lead characters from other books. They’re depressing, un-fun reads and are the main reason it took me well over a month to get through this. If you really love Magnus, maybe you’ll like it, but I’d just borrow it from the library and read the good stories (those I rated 4 or 5 below).
What Really Happened in Peru – Funny, enjoyable, and lets us know more about Magnus’ life outside of his interactions with shadow hunters. 5/5
The Runaway Queen – I found this one rather mediocre, but it is a Magnus only story with no shadow hunters. 3/5
Vampires, Scones, and Edmund Herondale – A story about Edmund Herondale as told through the eyes of Magnus Bane. Nothing really happens, it’s just giving you information Clockwork Angel fans might like to know. 2/5
The Midnight Heir – I have no idea why this “story” is in this book unless this is Clare’s way of teasing yet another series. It’s depressing and raises lots of questions that are never answered. It’s also more about the London shadow hunters than it is about Magnus. 1/5
The Rise of the Hotel Dumort – An interesting little tale of Magnus’ life in New York during the time of the stock market crash. 4/5
Saving Raphael Santiago – A heartfelt and fun look at how Raphael Santiago became a vampire. 4/5
The Fall of the Hotel Dumort – Drugs are bad and so is this story. 2/5
What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (And Who You're Not Officially Dating Anyway) – A cute little tale of Magnus trying to figure out what to by Alec for his birthday. It’s not all that great, but it has some good moments. 3/5
The Last Stand of the New York Institute – a look at Magnus’ interactions with Valentine’s circle. This one was definitely an excuse to tell a story about the shadow hunters and Magnus was just an easy way to do it, but I did find it interesting so it gets a pass. 3/5
The Course of True Love (And First Dates) – A very cute story of Magnus’ first date with Alec. 5/5
The Voicemail of Magnus Bane – A truly painful series of voice mails from right after Magnus broke up with Alec. One or two of these are good, but there’s something like 15 of them and most of them were just cringe inducing. Also, whose idea was it to end the book on this? It’s depressing and leaves a sour taste in the mouth. 1/5
