This book was utterly monotonous and none of the characters were interesting or compelling. The narration also moves at a snail's pace.
The writing was well-crafted, but the book was a complete waste of time. I stopped reading when I was almost halfway through this book and so far, the plot and characters had barely inched forward.

While I can appreciate this piece becoming a modern classic, it simply wasn’t for me. I hate to admit it but I was bored throughout the entirety of the book and just couldn’t get into the material. I almost DNF’d about 8% of the way in, however I finished because this was a book club selection and I wanted to participate in the discussion. For those of you who loved this book, I’m happy for you, but as for me I just couldn’t get into it or connect.
