Before I begin, I want to make it clear that this book is not at all bad and I'm sorry to give it 2 stars. I enjoyed it while I was reading, but afterwards spent some time thinking and found it mediocre.

The story itself felt a bit like ticking off one event at a time. There was no plot outside of the main characters' relationship which made it feel flat. Both characters had pasts and flaws that they overcame, but they weren't exactly complex.

I was a little disappointed that this novella in particular did not include any overseas service, however it was definitely eye opening to see the different jobs within the military. When someone says military you often think of being stationed abroad in a war-torn country, but they actually do so many other things too. This novella is a good representation of that. It also shows how stressful the job can be, which I thought was good, since it's often romanticized in romantic military fiction.

Overall, it was fine. I enjoyed it. It was easy to read and a sweet romance. It kept me busy late into the night during a bout of insomnia. So, do I recommend it? Sure! If you aren't a critical reader like me, then I can see you really enjoying this. It's supposed to be light and sweet entertainment, and it lives up to that.

“There are so many things I want to do with you. Paperwork isn’t one of them.” Whew! Get it Vince!

Oh my gosh! 4.5 stars rounded to 5 for this sweet prequel. I have loved Vince in every book we have seen him in and was so excited to read his story. He is a tough marine but for sure has a sweet soft spot for Sara. Sara has trust issues and is scared of getting heartbroken again. Vince wants to do everything he can to prove he is worth trusting.

What a phenomenal series. I write this review after having already read some of the full length book in this series and I'm currently starting a reread of the whole series. I decided to start with the prequel this time. This prequel novella is just absolutely adorable. I love Vince's dedication to be steady and true for Sara after she's been hurt horribly by her previous relationship that was literally moments away from saying I do. I belive you can get this story for free when you sign up for the authors newsletter and I highly recommend it. Then keep reading the whole series because you won't be disappointed.

Thought I'd give this a try...

...too military
...too New Adult
...too much lack of trust

A sweet quick romance novella. I’m looking forward to reading more of the series.
