Still unclear as to what illness Paul/Michel seemed to have had- a lot of ambiguity in the plot. Definitely a story about what families and parents will do for each other in order to keep secrets.
dark
slow-paced
Somewhere between a 4 and a 4.5
The incredibly low average rating is unwarranted. I suspect it’s because it takes over 100 pages for anything to happen. But I was entertained nonetheless, and the book also gives you a lot to think about after you finish reading, which is not the case for most thrillers that may be more exciting but are ultimately forgettable.

The story is portioned out carefully and smartly. But the characters are so rotten I wish I hadn't met them.
I really liked this book. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. My only gripe was my fault. I thought there was an additional 15 pages for the author to wrap up the ending, which turned out to be additional publisher pages with an interview with the author: abrupt ending.
Dark, hazy portrait of two snarky ultra-rich couples not really talking about the criminal conspiracy shared by their sons. Takes place over the course of a single meal. Memorable images and exchanges abound. Reliability of the narrator shifts throughout making it hard to get a real read on any of the characters. Nicely done. Don't read this if you want uplifting, clarity, and likability.
I couldn't finish this audiobook (nor was I interested in doing so). I felt like the author was all over the place with this story.
it was so well written that this book made me feel icky after finishing it. unreliable narrators are crazyyyyy!!!!!
I was frustrated with the pace of the novel. It seemed to take forever to get anywhere. Other than that I thought it was a good read.
