it’s been a while since I’ve read a book that was purely lighthearted and romantic, so I enjoyed this. The pacing was good and the characters were fun—Dadu and Karina’s friends added a nice atmosphere. Of course there were some “”cringy”” moments, but it is a young adult romance, so I can’t really complain too much.
Ace was such a sweetheart and I wish more boys were like that in high school. I like how he didn’t try to push Karina all the time, only when it seemed like it would be best for her.
The major theme about her parents was saddening to read, especially since me and my parents have a similar relationship,
but I was so proud of her when she finally felt brave enough to confess.

This was a cute contemporary romance.

I loved everything about Ace. He was such a gentleman to Karina, and he had such a great and charming personality.

Karina was an okay character, but I hated that she let her parents be so controlling to her even though her brother was treated differently. Karina’s parents were so awful. I couldn’t stand how they treated her. Dadu was really great though.

I did really love the fake dating aspect of this story.

Overall, it was a good story.

This is the BEST book I have ever read. There is no doubt in my mind. Tashie Bhuiyan was able to create a story about love and anxiety and family and make it the most beautiful and relatable thing humanly possible. While reading scenes of Karina going through an anxiety attack, I found that if i pulled out my own writings from my own anxious moments, it would look exactly like what I was reading. She captured all of the feelings that come when panic takes over you, and she did it without making Karina seem weak. Her anxiety caused her issues, but it didn’t stop her from being brave and doing difficult things, which is something I think is important for people struggling to see.
I would’ve loved this story for that alone, but oh my GOD Ace Clyde adds a whole different layer of perfection to this wonderful book. He is just the ideal partner- like talk about a dream man! The way he helps her during her hardest times, and then gives her space when she needs it??? Amazing. He also is able to help her find her strength, but it’s not like he’s the reason she’s strong!! He just helps her inner bravery shine and it’s so, so wonderful.
I absolutely adore everything about this book, and it will definitely be a comfort read of mine for years and years to come. I was recently feeling that I didn’t have any books that really struck me as my favorite book, but then Counting Down With You came along and that problem was solved.
