Just as good as I remember. Emily's continued adventures make me thrill, laugh, and sometimes cry. Just like the first one, this is a book you half want to hug warmly when you finish and half want to set down and look at reverently.

I honestly loved this book. But I can't be the only one who was made really uncomfortable by Dean Priest...

This book, and it's siblings in the trilogy are such comfort books for me. This is the second in the series and it continues to offer beautiful prose about the landscape of PEI. Like others have mentioned, it's a fascinating time capsule from the turn of the 20th century.

Dean Priest continues to be a creep, and is 20 years older than young Emily but deeply infatuated with her. Thankfully his presence in the novel is smaller than in the previous book, and Emily remains only platonically kind to him.

Unlike Anne of Green Gables, the Emily series has a sort of magical realism to it, and Emily has something called the Second Sight, where she can sort of intuit things that others can. it's a very cool thing.

Mrs. Kent and Dean Priest just get worse, both slightly tolerable in the first, but now, uber creepy obsessive and inappropriate behaviour . These novels are pretty dark. I'm actually glad to be reading them as an adult, because I don't think I would have appreciated them as a tween.
