I feel like I can't rate this book like the other books because it wasn't written to be published. This is someone's uneddited commonplace book and diary, never intended to be read by anyone other than the author himself and it reads exatly like you would expecgt from that summary. It is interesting to see how ordinary and familiar some of the passages are. There is this one specific passage, I believe it was book 3, passage 2 in my edition, where he talks about the beauty of the aged body and that felt very poetic to me. In general, though, this book it boring and repetitive. I'd not read this to learn what he was "teaching" because there are many of his opinions and views that feel antiquated and repressed (justifiably so) and it isn't a book that makes me want to read more of it (I really had to force myself at some points) but I can't say this book isn't good for it was written to be, a personal commonplace book.
