A sweet tale. I found the Moomins' relentless optimism in the face of pretty extreme circumstances (like calmly sitting in their upper room to have tea while the flood waters continued to rise & treating it all as a great adventure) very cheering, especially considering the current climate in the real world. There is something important to be said for always making the best of a situation. It was these sorts of comments:
"She climbed over to her new home and looked around her. These people had been just a little untidy, she could see. But then, who isn’t. … Pity that the wall had fallen out, but now in summertime it wasn’t so very important."
"And the flood wave had bleached the hammock to a really nice colour."
Snufkin with children was also adorable, and Moominmamma was lovely as always, with such things as:
"Moominmamma nodded. She was dipping her snout in the water and looking at the bottom.
'There’s a nice gleam down there,' she said.
'It’s your golden bracelet,' said Moomintroll. 'And the Snork Maiden’s necklace. Good idea, isn’t it?'
'Splendid,' said his mother. 'We’ll always keep our bangles in brown pond water in the future. They’re so much more beautiful that way.'"
"'Flee!' cried Moominmamma. 'The police are here!'

The Moomins really teach you how to live happily despite the brick life sometimes lays down before our feet. They always find the silver lining and it often can be found somewhere between coffee and jam and the people you surround yourself with. This is the third Moomins book I've read and so far it has been my favourite one!

oih, olen seda lugu ju enne lugenud mitu korda, aga lõpp näiteks polnud üldse meeles. Muumiorgu tabab järjekordne katastroof - alles neil oli komeet, nüüd tuleb vulkaanipurse ja maavärin ja üleujutus. päris hea, et muumipere oma varandusse üsna filosoofiliselt suhtuda suudab (kuigi elutoamööbel siiski päästetakse). siiski, kui järgmine katsumus on see, et Muumitroll ja Tusklikupreili lahutatakse ülejäänud perest, juhtub vist ainsat korda kogu ses raamatusarjas, et Muumimamma kaotab mõneks ajaks enesevalitsuse.

Really fun and adorable - I recommend it (especially as an audiobook) if you want to smile a lot.
