From the books I have read about moomin this one have been my least favorite one, I hobestly thought this one was a bit boring even though things happen all the way through the story.

I read the Moomin books for the first time when I was about eight, and eighteen years later, I love them more than ever. These stories are sweet and silly, but they also explore existentialism and melancholy, and Jansson's prose is so good! Looking back, I really think she was one of my first writing teachers. And she saved me from seeing everything literally.

The more I read them, the more I find one should read them carefully. I mean, this is such a lovely story, and at the same time it describes very serious events, with very little consequence. It's a kids story for kids, but it is also for adults, as you see people you are forced to leave their house because of the flood, find a new, strange, house.

A very tectonically interesting moomin book! It's so funny and charming, and I love the writing style, the illustrations, and all of the characters! Snufkin was particularly funny in this one!
