A little bit adult a little bit childish and honestly just a good time. The mystery was one I actually wanted to solve, and the whole thing had me smiling.

Tipping Chan has always loved Nancy Drew books, so when her teacher is murdered she knows what she has to do. Along with her totally not kid friendly uncle and his flamboyantly gay boyfriend they get on the case. But in a small town, the deeper they dig, the more secrets they find.

I love love love this book! It made me laugh whilst still building the suspense. I felt this book had so many layers and each were explored so well. My favourite element was the fact that it reminded me of a kids movie - there were adult jokes that went straight over Tippy's head. Highly recommend!

This was truly awful, and the more I think about it the more I dislike it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and I don't know what Allen & Unwin were thinking. It's not literary fiction, it's not crime fiction, and it's not even good YA. The writing was clunky with too much dialogue and zero character development or depth. To add insult to injury the actual crime solving part of the story is so chock full of holes, that jahlsberg want their cheese back. Don't buy, don't borrow, don't go near this book.

This book was both really cute and funny. I love a bit of mystery and this book definitely delivered on that front. It was written from the perspective of an 11 year old and there were times I thought to myself, no way I thought that way or did any of those things at the young age of 11. However, once I sort of made myself forget about that, I enjoyed her character a lot more.

I’ve only ever read one other book like this - where the mc, because of age, is only able to see part of the puzzle but as the reader we are able to see a bit more of that puzzle but not enough to spoil the ending - but I do love this point of view! the characters seemed to have depth though very cliche. Seeing the world from an eleven year olds view was so strange as I remember nothing from that age but still found myself trying to put myself in that situation. Was I that naive? that smart? Some parts felt over explained while others just left and not in the good old cliffhanger type way. It was like I could almost feel what mc felt but not quite. Overall didn’t necessarily connect with any one character but small pieces throughout.
p.s the other book I referred to was elizabeth is missing and it broke my head in the best way possible.
