Other than the fact that Wendig absolutely loves the word canoodle far too much, and needlessly made this book longer than was necessary. It really was a fantastic book. I couldn't stop listening to it. Blew through the whole thing in a few days. I had to know what was going on with the big mystery surrounding the white mask disease. And it sadly ended pretty much how I figured it would. Which wasn't very surprising at all. Pretty cliche ending, but I am excited to start on the sequel.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, it was very well done, and I could’ve put it down because I wanted ti know what happens next. On the other, it really triggered my 2016 election anxiety. I spent much of the novel so tense and angry at the all the conservative republican characters. That aspect somewhat diminished my enjoyment of the story.

The political commentary was so overt. Against Trump, right wing extremists, AI and Christian’s. The preacher character says the Bible is just a book and modern Christian’s don’t subscribe to it all.

This book felt soooo long, so LONG!  It is a very political book - to the point of propaganda in it’s polarized splitting of humanity.  The storyline was still intriguing, but I’m certain the author could have cut out a third of the book without any loss. It is unlikely I will pick up the sequel.
