What's in this book? Suicide and attempted suicide, depression, anxiety, sexual assault and harassment, pedophilia, cyberbullying, and revenge.
Make sure you are safe with all of that.
Siu-Man, cewek SMA 14-15 tahun ditemukan tewas setelah melompat dari jendela apartemennya.
Tapi, selanjutnya mulai seru.
Apalagi setelah kemunculan N (he's my favoutite) tanpa sadar tuh aku ikut terhanyut sama penyelidikan dan penjelasan yang N sampaikan.
Minya maaf kepada Lily Shu but ... HOW THE FUCK TIBA TIBA CHRISTOPHER??? I THOUGHT IT WAS CHUNG-NAM??!!
After all, ini buku yang oke banget, wajib dibaca sekali seumur hidup.

Hong Kong is fascinating on so many levels and I'm thrilled to read a book by an author who lives there, with a story taking place there. I've never been to Hong Kong, and I don't know if I'll ever have the opportunity so this is one way of discovering it, even if it's a fictional novel.
I admit that although at times the main characters are a bit heavy and difficult to identify with, the plot is pretty good, and I learned plenty about the internet and its dangers. Or rather, how us humans use it to harm others. A really good read.
The author had me thoroughly intrigued with unexpected twists and serious themes. I'm definitely adding him to authors to follow, and look forward to other books from him.

gw jarang baca novel mystery-thriller, tp akhirnya nyoba baca buku ini, ternyata seru.. tiap bab dibuat ????? dan pengen terus baca dan lanjut. selain itu, selama baca jg diajak mikir siapa 'dalangnya'. walopun ada bbrp part yg triggering buat gw, tp menurut gw setiap teka teki yg disuguhkan ga too much dan bingungin, karena penjelasan setiap praduga cukup detail dan masuk akal.
gw rasa, gw akan lanjut buku chan ho kei selanjutnya, The Borrowed.

second sister is about an older sister, Nga-Yee who lost her younger sister to suicide. allegedly experienced bullying online, the beginning of all this was the sexual assault case that the younger sister experienced on the MTR. the novel then goes with the older sister trying to find out who "killed" her sister, assisted by an eccentric and genius detective named N. but without me knowing it, the story spreads and is more complicated than just a sister's revenge. you should read the novel, then you will understand what I mean.
nowadays, people can just write fake news on their blogspot page or create a thread on their twitter, then thousands of people around the world can just believe it. this is how online bullying scenarios usually work. this is still very relevant to our current situation, wherever we are. this is very, very dangerous, especially if the case of bullying is experienced by teenagers who are still fragile. au siu-man, the younger sister, was subjected to days of sexual harassment and online bullying and this led to her own death. however, once again, you have to read the novel to know why all of these things could happen.
I've rambled too much about the storyline, and I think that's enough. it's officially on my "best reads of 2023" list. you have to read this novel, you have to know how genius N is in solving the cases. please, add second sister by chan ho-kei to your TBR list right now!
