When I started this book I felt a little bit disappointed, but it was great, unexpected end

I really really wanted to love this book. I loved the Maze Runner series and was hoping to find the answers to all my questions in this book - unfortunately, not very many (or any) of my questions were answered.

I really liked Mark & Trina, DeeDee stole my heart from the first encounter, and how can you not love Alec & Lana. The characters were great, however I just don't feel the author closed the gap between the prequel & the series very well.

WARNING: Spoilers Ahead!

I will say - I liked how the epilogue tied into Thomas' story. But aside from that one chapter - this was story in itself with dare I say it? Too much action, too little plot?

For me the ending was disappointing. Again, it left me with all my unanswered questions plus NEW questions. Maybe a Maze Runner .75 is in order to really bridge the prequels with the series?! Mr. Dashner??

I really enjoyed The Kill Order. It was a good glimpse into the dystopian world that The Maze Runner series is centered around. I spent the whole time trying to figure out how Mark and Trina are connected to the series. It's a quick read and easy to get into. I thought it was interesting to see not only Mark and Trina's experience during the Solar Flare but also the start of The Flare outbreak.

I was pretty disappointed with this book. I enjoyed the other books in this series, though none as much as The Maze Runner, but The Kill Order just didn't draw me in the same way the other books did. As a rule, I'm not a fan of prequels because we already know things that are going to happen and it spoils the mystery and the intensity of the dangerous situations. Mark is a nice enough character, but he lacked any real depth for me and I never felt very connected to him. The same goes for the others characters, so that meant the plot was all that was holding the story together, and that seemed to be mostly about moving from place to place getting into and out of random dangerous situations. I admit that I do like the end, because it is something you rarely see in fiction, but that can't save a story that didn't bring much entertainment value.

Its a well written book but has no relevance to the Maze Runner trilogy at all. It doesn't fill you in on how the characters in the Maze Runner became part of WICKED's experiment or who WICKED are. The epilogue is the only relevant part of the book as you find out why Thomas is called Thomas but that's it!!! I found this a very disappointing read and I want to know who Deedee becomes in the future.
