All I can do right now is breathe through the fact that it's over.
although now I have so much more material to finish the fanfiction people keep shouting at me to finish...
It was a satisfying ending to the series, if not a particularly complex one.

In reality this book was actually probably the best one out of the trilogy, but it is the one that I enjoyed the least. I loved the first half of the book, but for some reason once I got halfway through, I really just didn't want to read it anymore. I struggled to read even a chapter at a time. This trilogy just wasn't for me.

this book is absolutely incredible. i love all the characters so much. ruby gets her family back at the end! oh my god! i never even considered that that could happen! i’m so freaking happy. she gets to be with liam. she removed all the bad memories from clancy’s mind so he can just be like himself before IAAN. all the children are being released. chubs is being amazing debating about the new laws about psi kids. zu freaking spoke!!! ruby went back to thurmond and freaking walked out!!!! she made sam remember her again and sam helped her get out. it’s all just so amazing and emotional and i can’t believe it’s over what the hell
when ruby was saying she had to walk out of thurmond and how cole would understand and liam doesn’t even tho he still supported her soooo emotional
the last line referring to how jude invisioned the world to be

That was so damn good. Not as good as The Darkest Minds and Never Fade, but still very good.
The first 300 pages dragged a bit. Not enough to be a total and utter catastrophe, but mostly just a three-star-read for me. And it hurts, it legitimately hurts to say that. But the ending.. The last 150-200 pages were just full on 5 stars. It was so emotional, so damn good. I can't even fathom how blown away I was. The ending itself... It was perfect. All I wanted to happen, happened. And then some.
As you may or may not can tell, I really liked this book. It was so intense. So aggravating. So funny. So sad. So bittersweet. So suspenseful. Just everything.
I'm so looking forward to the novellas... I need them in my life like ASAP.

I finally, finally finished this book. I really enjoyed the first 2 in the series, but I just couldn't get into this one. I actually put it down and read 2 other books.
In the end, it was worth reading. I liked the way the series ended. Overall, I just felt like this book was too long. There was so much angst and so many problems.

**SPOILERS**
Even though the beginning had a very slow build up, I really enjoyed the parts in the Ranch with Cole and Ruby. I really liked how they both understood each other and that they formed a really strong bond and how Cole trusted Ruby and Ruby trust him. I liked how they were partners and friends. I liked how Cole called Ruby, "Gem."
There was a lot of brotherly conflict between Cole and Liam but I knew that Cole loved Liam even though Liam thought that Cole thought that he was useless and weak. Cole was just afraid of himself. I really did like Cole as a character and I am extremely sad that he died. I really wished that Cole could've learned to love himself, be happy and not be ashamed of himself.
I did not expect Clancy to control Ruby and manipulate her into doing his dirty work.
I thought that the scene in Thurmond was really interesting, action-packed and badass. I liked how Ruby was able to control her powers and use it so well to control the officers and to Evernote give Same and her parents back her memories.
I was really surprised that after everything Ruby decided to take away Clancy's memories of ever being an Orange and anything that happened to him, but I understood completely why she did it. I really enjoyed when Clancy got shot though.
I loved how the relationship between Ruby and Liam got better and that they communicated more. I love the heart-to-heart moments with Ruby and Zu and with Ruby and Vida. All the girls have a strong bond.
I liked how impacting the scene was when Ruby insisted on walking out of Thurmond. She walked out a different, stronger person than she was in the first book and that was an amazing scene how it came full circle with her character development. She was no longer afraid or ashamed of herself. She was free of the pain.

This series has been on my to-read list for years, I finally got around to getting it, AND I WANT TO PUNCH MYSELF IN THE THROAT FOR WAITING SO DAMN LONG. I am a cryer, I cried the other day because a little girl on Facebook was singing on X-factor and got the golden buzzer, didn't matter to me that I'd seen the video on like 8 seperate occasions. Of course not, I watched it again and loudly sobbed the whole time. Why am I like this? I have no idea, I never used to be a cryer, I reread books now, that at 15 I didn't even shed a tear at, and I wail. So reading this series was a goddamn nightmare for me, I had to stop every four seconds to cry because my tears were making it hard to see. But DAMN was it worth it, this was an awesome and heart wrenching series from the get go, it did have its moments where I was like "WTF ARE YOU DOING" but for the vast majority I was in love with these books. The characters are real and raw and they have been through so much, and it shows. God I love it when a book accurately depicts the after effects of trauma, some authors just don't seem to get that if Suzy fell down the well, Suzy is probably going to have a life long aversion to wells. And even more? These characters had to work at their recovery, it wasn't all peachy keen and roses, it was messy and honest AND I LIVE FOR THAT. I don't want to say too much about this series, cause I want you to read it and love it, I did see ~a lot~ of the twists coming, but was caught off guard for a lot too so that's okay. But I can't really fault this series, it was beautifully written (its chock full of amazing quotes) and it was just a raw, and real series that you need to read asap. *drinking game~ every time i say "raw and real" you take a shot*
Who I recommend this to: anyone who likes a good cry or doesn't, just read it.
I give it 5/5 roses 🌹 it wasn't ~perfect~ but it was pretty damn close in my humble opinion.
