Of all the books in the series this one was my least favorite.

First of all Ruby has never been my favorite but the amount of angst she gives off in this book was borderline annoying. Don’t get me wrong I probably would be tired like her all the time if I were in the middle of a rebellion. But it was just too much. Ruby either spent all of her time doing that or avoiding real conversations with people about her emotions.

Speaking of emotions it annoys me that when her and Liam had there big all out argument that it was over so quickly and they really didn’t talk through everything.

Also they were in the same place almost the whole time. And I don’t think they had enough of the whole group like Chubs, Ruby, Liam and Zu. Or even with Vid.

Finally, I think the whole series would have benefited from being in multiple perspectives or maybe then just Ruby’s and Liam’s. I say this due to when 1: when Cole dies (I was so hurt by that) and 2: when Ruby leaves everyone to go to Thurmond. While it gives off suspense it really just felt like it left so much info out.

Overall it wasn’t bad and it was decent for the end of the series (even though I know there’s another book form Zu’s perspective). The ending made me happy.

An amazing ending to an amazing series. I'm not going to lie, the beginning was slow but I felt like the ending was exactly what we needed. Although I'm incredibly sad to say goodbye to these characters, this was one of the most satisfying finishes to a series that I have ever read.
4.5/5

Excellent ending to a solid YA series. I really think the characters make this one; I adore them all.

Like the other books in the series, this one sucked me right in! Though, I was a bit hesitant to read it because 1. my heart took its sweet time to recover from the previous book and 2. I don't want it to end yet. Still, I was powerless when it comes to this series so I gave in. I finished it in one day.

As usual, it was an emotional ride. Since it is the end of the series, the characters have to tie up their emotional conflicts. I don't like this element because I don't have a thing for dramas. But it's okay because it is not overwhelming (much). And brace yourselves for an emotional surprise!

Aside from the feels, the characters have concluded their relationships. This is the part I liked the most because of the amusing conversations. I will not spoil it for you, though I think you actually have an idea. For those who are pinning for Ruby♥Liam, well you'll not be disappointed.

The plot was a little fast-paced. I actually felt a little dizzy with all the things they're doing (it seemed to much!). Also, I'm a bit surprised that some things are quite predictable for me. The other books didn't give me a hint at all as to what comes next. The cause, the cure... yeah, quite predictable.

Now, I don't wanna be a party popper but I am not satisfied with the ending. It's anticlimactic and it's like the 90% of the book is this dark place and then suddenly it went all bright in the last part. It made the past a little surreal for me. Like it didn't happen. But I guess, you couldn't ask for a better ending.

Unless, you're greedy like me. I still crave for more!

All in all, I love this book. I love all the characters (including Clancy even if he is an asshole), I love the relationship, the plot, the world, the adventure, the action... EVERYTHING! I love this series!

SO yeah, I am a little sad that the story ends here.

But let's carry on and let's carpe the hell out of this diem!

A series that stays pretty consistent is hard to find, and this one does a great job of that. The third and final book had a slow start but the pace picked up and it was suspenseful, exciting and full of all the emotions. Ruby and Cole are trying to finish what they started and free the kids from camps. The usual suspects are along for the ride. It has moments of violence but each scene helps develop the story or the character. There are some giggles along the way, thanks in part to Vida. I liked the ending and hope all the characters can find the peace they were looking for.

This series has been a bit meh throughout. I didn’t really enjoy the first one, the second was better and I had a bit of hope for this book. It’s a biggish book and thought it would be well detailed and be a really good ending. However, I am overall disappointed with this book and series.

This is set in America and there is a mysterious disease that has killed most of America’s children but the children that have survived have abilities that they struggle to control, and they are in rehabilitation camps. The book follows one of the children who survived this disease. Her name is Ruby and she is seventeen years old. The fate of a generation lies in Ruby’s hands and one wrong move could set the world on fire. She is one of the few survivors of IAAN and she has emerged as a leader trying to take down the government so that she and the other children can live without fear. This is a young adult fantasy novel.

So what things did I like? It is such a difficult question. I liked Ruby’s personal journey for like the last 200 pages. I liked how the titles make a sentence – The Darkest Minds. Never Fade. In the Afterlight – I found that very clever. But that was about it. The book dragged – the first 380 aren’t needed, it just a lot of planning, not a lot of action just a lot of meh. The last 200 pages are rushed with the plan that they’ve spent 380 pages planning. The ending was okay, not the best, not the worst – left more questions than answers. Old characters only came in when they were needed for the minor storyline but then they disappeared. It was just a messy long plot.

I was very disappointed with this book. It had a lot of hype but I wasn’t hooked and the storyline was so chaotic and the supporting characters would only come into the book to push the story along but you don’t really learn anything about them within this book. I would not recommend this book if you liked Divergent, the Maze Runner or the Mortal Instrument series. However, I did finish the book which is why it got my rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The series in general was a disappointment and I don’t know if I would read any more Alexandra Bracken books.

Oh my god. This was amazing! Such a powerful ending to a fantastic series.
