4.5/5*
I was really happy with the conclusion of the series. It was really good and I continued to really like the characters.
My two big things were 1) Ruby and Liam's relationship was confusing there for a while... and I'm sure that was the point and I liked that they handled things differently, it just kind of went over my head.
2) COLE DESERVED MORE. I WANTRD MORE AT THE END.
Still, overall I enjoyed this series wayyy more than I thought I would. Movie here we come!

A very comprehensive and satisfying ending to an exemplary YA trilogy. Just when I thought I'd grown out of YA,this trilogy sucks me in. As a writer, this trilogy--especially this last book--showed me how a successful, gripping YA trilogy can be structured, how tension is maintained, and how to kill characters without causing major devastation to the reader (no spoilers)! Trilogy overview on my blog to come/
This book was such an emotionally driven, exciting conclusion to an end of an amazing sieries!!!!
It held me all the way to the end,
It held me all the way to the end,
I can't form coherent thoughts about this book that is how emotionally exhausted it left me. I laughed, I cried, I cried some more, I cried a LOT. It was a journey and it hurt. So, so much. But it was beautiful.
Also random but I appreciate the realistic amount of profanity these teenager characters use. Good job, Alexandra Bracken.

This book broke my heart.
It took me forever to finish but the last 100 pages was amazing (i take that back it was heart-wrenching, you killed people, saved the wrong people, give us all HEA ughhhh but still, omg. I do hope Nico and Clancy at least end up together...)
I have a love-hate relationship with Chubs because most of the time he is sooooo emotional and make bad decisions and then I think of Liam and I forgive him. His shining moment is definitely when he stands for the rights of the kids when the politicians wanna sweep them under the rug, forgetting the fact thay they're the one who created this problem in the first place
My favourite is still Cole though.

"It rained the day I walked into Thurmond.
And it rained thr day I walked out."
What an absolutely incredible end to an amazing story.

Sadly everything has come to an end. If you have read my other reviews you know how much I love this series and Ruby's character. This doesn't change. She still is very realistic and I love how she is not defined by her relationship with Liam. And guess what? She even maintains friendships with other guys!
But not only Ruby is a very complex and understandable character, the others are too. The thing I noticed the most is, how... childlike the children are. Your usual twelve year old doesn't jump head first into battle and kills everything in sight. And not everything has to be handled violently.
