I loved everything about his book, the characters are so vivid and it reminded of how much I love Italy and Tuscany in particular. Florence here I come, I’ve missed you.

I have mixed feelings. This genre isn't my favorite. The relationships in the book are beautiful. I listened to the audio, and I do appreciate the author herself narrated the book.
I felt it was a slow start. I listened to the first hour 3 times because I couldn't stay attentive to it.
I agree with others that I'm not entirely sure why the last chapter is not at the front. I'll need to think about that more.
A note, at one point in the book they discussed distance in miles. But they are in Europe, so that really bothered me.

It went all over the place and failed to keep my attention
Recommended by a friend when I was about to travel to Italy by train. There are various levels that you can access Still Life; it's a romance, yes. A war story, yes. A cultural insight, yes. Historically and artistically interesting (did you know Florence has flooded, badly, more than once?) The characters ebb and flow a bit and if you like a line from A to B in your main arc of plot then this might frustrate you. And there's a big chunk set in a London pub quite early on, which nearly diverted me (not sure why). Persevere though and everything comes good in the end:)
read this during and after my trip to florence and being able to picture a lot of the places mentioned was so fun!
