absolutely beautiful - the story line, each of the characters, the era it is set within, the exquisite writing.
I never wanted it to end, I was so emotionally invested in everyone.

My second 5-star read of 2024. Still Life came highly recommended and it didn’t disappoint.

A story of love, friendship and living life in brilliant technicolor. Ulysses & Evelyn meet in the Tuscan hills above Florence as liberation sweeps through Italy. This fateful meeting of two outwardly quite different people belies the fact that they are very much the same type of person, warm, kind, adventurous, empathetic, romantic and in a world ruled by conformity they are very certainly non-conformists.

From war torn Tuscany to post-war London to modern day Italy we meet a band of dreamers drawn together by happenstance, who sustain, cajole, support, love each other through all the changes of fortune, fancy and time.

A pure joy! A must read.
