The very best of Atomic Robo, smart, silly and lots of weird explosions.
It’s unfortunate that the series peaks here, as nothing else matches this insanity (with the exception of Dr Dinosaur)

Slowly working through comicon loot. Really enjoyed this one. Atomic robo is a great character and the writing is sharp and the artwork compelling and perfect. And really, how can you not enjoy a book that starts by introducing H.P. Lovecraft as a lunatic, ranting character (favorite line, complaining about no one listening: "How could the world possibly end? We're too clever and handsome to let the vast, impossible horror of the universe destroy us!"), has a tentacles horror grow out of his head, and later teams up robo with Carl Sagan to help destroy it. Great book. Pretty much perfect adventure comic.

This whole book was as entertaining as those now-completely-unrelated-to-the-rest-of-the-show space-time-contiuum episodes of LOST. Those with Desmond and his constant and such. Sorry if that spoilt anything there, but you should've already seen LOST by now.
Anyway.
The same ol' absurdist humor and silly dialogue and, well, somewhat one-dimensional plot lines that you can expect from Atomic Robo are all present here... but THIS time with 84% more Cool.
I was thrilled by this book, and regret I didn't crack it open months and months sooner when I bought it. That's me, but you're you, so hopefully you just sorta dig it, at the very worst. Here I am, a happy customer, feeling slightly more amicable towards Atomic Robo because of this book alone. I don't think it's an isolated incident, so if you're even remotely interested, you may well be satisfied, too.
To be fair, I bought mine on Ebay for $10 shipped, and not having paid the full $18.95 makes the possibility of you liking something just a little more likely.

It was cool to see Robo at different stages of his life and maturity levels. Favorite parts: Tesla lecturing Robo on the car phone about keeping the radio programs turned down while he studies and not to have company over while a Lovecraftian horror chases the car, Robo dressed like a newsie, everything involving Carl Sagan, and, "Shut up and let the grown-ups work!" And Robo in a bucket hat.
